Online Help for Chasys Draw IES: Preferences and Settings - Global - User Interface

Preferences and Settings - Global - User Interface

About Global Preferences

The preferences and settings described here are global configurations for all components of Chasys Draw IES. The dialog box for setting them can be found under Menu > Configure > Other Settings. It can also be found under “Other Tasks” on the Chasys Draw IES launcher application (Lobby) and on the Start Menu.

Global preferences are managed from standalone modules, for example, there’s a module for managing file associations and a separate module for managing languages. These are accessible via any application and can also be accessed via shortcuts provided on the Start Menu.

This section provides an overview of some of the global preferences available to you for the purposes of explanation.

Imperial Units and Paper Sizes

Chasys Draw IES uses metric units (e.g. cm, mm, ppcm) and internationally standardized ISO 216 paper sizes (e.g. A4, A3, C5) by default. You can, however, configure it to prefer imperial units (e.g. inches, ppi) and North American paper sizes (e.g. Letter, Legal) if you wish. It is strongly recommended that you use metric units and ISO 216 for any work that is intended for use by an international audience.

Mouse-wheel Controls

The mouse-wheel can be used to zoom and pan the image. Chasys Draw IES allows you to configure this behaviour to be either default (the way Chasys Draw IES normally handles it) or document (the way most web browsers and other image editors handle it). The details are as listed below:

Default:

Mouse-wheel only

Zoom in/out, centered on the pixel under the cursor

Mouse-wheel + Ctrl

Zoom in/out, not centered

Mouse-wheel + Shift

Pan/scroll left/right

Mouse-wheel + Shift + Ctrl

Pan/scroll up/down

Document:

Mouse-wheel only

Pan/scroll up/down

Mouse-wheel + Shift

Pan/scroll left/right

Mouse-wheel + Ctrl

Zoom in/out, centered on the pixel under the cursor

Mouse-wheel + Ctrl + Shift

Zoom in/out, not centered

Color Theme

Chasys Draw IES allows you to configure the general color theme of the user interface. This color theme is only applied to the main user interface windows and pop-ups; dialog boxes will use the system color theme. The provided color themes include dark modes for those who either prefer a darker interface or are using screens that have a tendency to suffer burn-in, such as OLED displays. The colors theme is applied globally to all running instances of Chasys Draw IES a few seconds after you set it; a restart is not necessary.

Currently, the following themes are provided:

Default Theme

Default theme with white, silver, slate and blue

Twilight Theme

Low-light theme with deep shades of grey and blue

Midnight Theme

Dark theme with black, slate, dark grey and purple

Moonscape Theme

Bland theme with neutral grey and faded colors

Deep Sea Theme

Dark theme with black, slate, dark grey and deep blues

The selected color theme is only applied to the main user interface windows and pop-ups; dialog boxes will use the system color theme. These options are available in the Other Settings configuration dialog box.
