Recommended Video Codecs
Thank you for choosing Chasys Draw IES!
Video codecs are required by your computer for it to recognize and play new video file formats. They are also needed for some image files that use video compression techniques to compress images, most notably HEIF (High Efficiency Image Format) and AVIF (AV1 Image Format). Due to patent and licensing requirements, some videos codecs are distributed at a small fee.
Here‘s a list of video codecs that we recommend based on what we've tested for compatibility. These links will direct you to 3rd party websites such as the Microsoft Store.
Support for H.265/HEVC, H.264/AVC and AOMedia AV1
Needed for HEIF and AVIF support. HEIF files are produced by iOS (Apple) mobile devices as well as some newer Android OS devices. Windows 10 has H.264/AVC support out of the box.
NOTE: Starting from Chasys Draw IES 5.28.01, external codecs will not be required for H.265/HEVC and AOMedia AV1.
