Wish #180

wished on Wed, 12th Jun 2013 at 18:10:19

For Chasys Draw IES Artist is there a way to close the current project without closing the whole programme, cant find a "close" button anywhere, usually under "file" somewhere. I am possible missing something.
Thanks

Reply:
Hi,
There's no "close" button because one would not make sense in the context of Chasys Draw IES -- each workspace is opened in a new window, and you don't need to close the current workspace to open/start a new one.

Just an idea JP  In an early version of Paint shop Pro (?6) there used to be a button with a question mark, which you could drag over an item on the tool bar and bring up a context sensitive help screen.  Would this aid newer users to learn the package?
Just a thought

Reply:
Hi,
Context-sensitive help is available in Chasys Draw IES. All dialog boxes (effects, transforms, etc) have the help button you have described. Pressing F1 on the keyboard when drawing brings up the help page for the tool you're currently using.

Hey John. I am an author and I have over three hundred and fifty fonts. The font viewer in the text art editor will only show into the low 200's. The font view window and scroll-bar goes off the bottom of the screen. Would it be a problem to fix this?

There's a German language file included, but it's a machine translation so it might contain some errors.

Could you add the "PCD format to the list of supported image types for CHASYS_DRAW?

Thanks,

Like the "image hoses" in GIMP? Fully supported -- try the "redball_hose.cd5" custom brush to see what I mean.

Chasys Draw IES Converter
(I just discovered this wonderful piece of software, when I was looking for a program able to create JPEG2000 files without discarding all the metadata: I am still amazed to have to go to Kenya to foind one !!!)
I didn't find a way to resize images with the converter (big batch !), keeping the printed size, changing the resolution (DPI) and adjusting the pixel sizes accordingly. (a resize by a ratio (percentage) would be nice also). I apologize if I just missed the option.
Best regards,

Reply:
Hi,
Thanks for pointing that out. Those options will be available in the next version.

This looks very promising.  I would be suprised if this is not already here.  Make it possible to edit each object without having to have a new layer... Scale/color/location.  Like Inkscape or OfficeDraw.

Reply:
Hi,
There are two types of image editing applications, namely Raster and Vector.

Raster graphics editors manipulate and store images in the form of pixels.
Examples include Chasys Draw IES, GIMP, Adobe Photoshop and Corel PhotoPaint.

Vector graphics editors manipulate and store images in the form of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, shapes and polygons.
Examples include Inkscape, OfficeDraw, Adobe Illustrator and CorelDRAW.

What you've described above is vector-based image manipulation. Although Chasys Draw IES has some vector capabilities, it is primarily a raster graphics editor, which makes this level of vector-based editing out of scope.

Chasys Draw IES can be very productive and it would be even more if you implement the following functions:
1. Brush size set by pressing control or shift key while moving mouse/pen (like Krita)
2. Instantaneous pop-up window with tool and color palette (right click or pen button, or any other... - Similar to Krita)
3. Onion-skin for animation (good for traditional animation)

Reply:
Hi,
I've added onion-skin animation.

Chasys Draw IES

Hi,
It would be helpful if you could add an option that allows batching (add/delete), rename, and resize photos in one place.  Then, of course, save them to a folder.  If possible, it should be done with a minimum number of clicks.

Thanks,

Lou

That options exists, it's called Chasys Draw IES Converter. You can launch it from either the start menu or from Artist by going to the menu item File >> Launch Application >> Chasys Draw IES Converter.

Hello,

If this is a _brush_ effect, it seems I will have to move over the entire image, to have all pixels of the same color re-colored. I simply want to select and apply another color for all pixels of the same color at once.

For instance, I want to re-color all grey areas of a form to green. In Paint I would have to make the grey color transparent, clear the image, fill it with a green color and then paste the grey-transparent image.

I just want to say: turn all grey pixels into green ones.

Kind regards,

Stefan Boumans

In that case, use the "Replace Color" effect

Hello,

In the long list of current features, I haven't spotted the simple one I need more often than others: in screen prints I sometimes just want to replace a single color by another color. I normally do this in MS Windows Paint, by making the current color transparent and then fill the background by the new color and paste the image again. It would be _very_ convenient if I could to this with a single specific tool.

Kind regards,

Stefan Boumans

Hi I like Chasys draw to use for animation. I would like to use the any-rotation tool easier when I am animating. So I would like that it could be a short-cut key, or a toolbox item. This would be very handy when I am animating legs. Thank you so much!

Hi, there's an upcoming feature that will make this easier for you. I'll keep you posted.

Ok then, at first, Level and Alpha.1/2 should be removed, for they make no sense. One setting for opacity should be enough. But above this, opacity must work for all Tools, especialy for Brush and Pencil.
Also there has to be be a way to control the opacity by pen pressure, and/or width and opacity simultaneously. (sorry for my bad english, hope it's understandable...)

Thank you very much

Hi,
I beg to differ -- both alphas are required for some tools, e.g. Shape (options on column 4), Custom Shape (col 4), GT Shapes (all), Full-page Gradients (alpha gradients, col 3). Experiment a little with these tools (using different values for alpha 1 and 2) and you'll see why you need the second alpha.
NB: Please note that the way Chasys Draw IES handles transparency very very different from what you find in other image editors. Specifically, Chasys Draw IES treats the alpha channel as a standard color channel (and not as an additional channel or mask) -- as a result, all images in Chasys Draw IES have a full alpha channel all the time, and transparency is included in all operations, by all tools, by all plug-ins and in all image modes. Alpha values are not shared, and each color parameter needs its own alpha value (so, for the current colors, you have color1/alpha1 & color2/alpha2 instead of color1 & color2 & alpha). Furthermore, alpha values in Chasys Draw IES do not represent opacity -- they represent transparency (i.e. the inversion of what you find in other editors).

Hi, I'm giving this serious consideration, Chasys Draw IES needs some sort of scripting engine.

I wish to have Chasys Draw IES Artist a better UI design - have it more solid. But Chasys works amazing! really amazing. Hands down.

Do you mean more solid as in a single window without floating toolbars? Please email me -- support@jpchacha.com

In transforms, could you make Skew and Perspective be able to warp the image even greater without the image shrinking to greatly?

Wish #158

wished on Thu, 1st Nov 2012 at 16:57:50

I like the tools, but the layout is a little cluttered for my personal taste.  (Chasys Draw IES Artist, v4.00.01)

Is there a way to set a preference for where the floating tools should always be, so that I can put them to the side and keep them there? Also, can I reposition the green box at the top left, and the grey boxes at the bottom left? I'd really like to be able to move them all around and 'dock' them out of the way of whichever project I'm working on.

Apart from that -- and a wish for layer opacity sliders, as in Wish #153 -- I love the tools so much! Thank you so much for making this and sharing it with everyone. God bless you, sir.

Reply:
Hi, I've added an option to hide the gadgets (grey boxes) and the status icons (green box). I'll seewhat I can do about the positions of the floating toolbars.

I just ALMOST finished a 5 day project in Chasys Draw IES. I saved it and exited the program because my puter was running very slow. Now I opened it up to edit one more thing and it won't let me change anything. I wish I could have those 5 days back of work I wasted. Now I have to start all over again. Did I do something wrong? My wish is to get it back so I can edit it a little more.

Reply:
Hi,
Did you save the project as a CD5 file? Kindly contact me via email at support@jpchacha.com.

I just started to use your Draw IES but I loaded the German version. Who did that terrible work? A translation software? It must have been a dyslexic person. Sorry but there is a need for a better German

Reply:
Hi,
The German language file is a machine translation, which is why Chasys Draw IES advises you not to use it. If you're comfortable using Chasys Draw IES in English, please do. Just go to Configure/Language on the menu then select Default)

Hello, I testet a lot of the competition, but Chacys Draw I like the best.
Just one thing Iám slightly missing: An opacity-slider for each layer.
Would be very nice to get one one of these days.
Thank you for great work!
